Culture
At Axel Johnson International, you will be part of a long-term, entrepreneurial and decentralized business environment where there is room to take initiative, learn and grow. You will work closely with experienced M&A colleagues, Business Group management teams and external advisers across a broad range of industries, geographies and transaction sizes.
You will gain hands-on exposure to the full acquisition process - from sourcing and initial evaluation to due diligence, transaction execution and decision-making - while progressively taking on broader responsibility as you develop. The role provides a strong foundation for building both transaction execution skills and investment judgement in an international industrial environment.
About the role:
We are looking for a Project Manager to join our central Strategy & M&A team, with a primary focus on M&A.
Acquisitions are an important part of Axel Johnson International’s long-term growth strategy, and you will work closely with our Business Groups throughout the acquisition process - from sourcing and initial screening to valuation, due diligence, transaction execution and preparation of decision materials.
The role combines hands-on transaction work with broader analytical and strategic assignments related to M&A. You will work across several industries, geographies and transaction sizes and gain exposure to both our decentralized businesses and senior leaders across the Group.
As part of a lean central team, you will be expected to take ownership of analytical workstreams and progressively assume broader responsibility in transactions, while working closely with more senior M&A colleagues and Business Group management.
The role is based at our Stockholm office and involves some travel to our companies, transaction counterparties and advisers.
Responsibilities
- Support Business Groups in sourcing, screening and evaluating acquisition opportunities, including company, market and strategic analyses, thematic sourcing and adviser outreach
- Participate in proactive sourcing initiatives, including building adviser relationships and selected market and adviser visits across relevant geographies
- Build and review financial models, valuations and investment cases for potential acquisitions
- Support and coordinate due diligence processes across financial, legal, commercial and other relevant workstreams
- Analyze transaction opportunities and identify key value drivers, risks and areas requiring further investigation
- Prepare high-quality transaction and decision materials for the Board of Directors and other internal decision-making forums
- Support transaction execution, including process coordination, adviser interaction, transaction structure analysis and key deal documentation
- Work closely with Business Groups, portfolio company management teams and external advisers throughout transaction processes
- Contribute to the continued development of Axel Johnson International’s M&A capabilities, tools and ways of working
- Support selected strategic analyses and Group-level initiatives where relevant to M&A and growth
You have
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or a related field
- Approximately 2-3 years of relevant experience in investment banking, M&A advisory, transaction services/financial due diligence, private equity, corporate M&A or a related field
- Strong financial and analytical skills, with experience in financial modelling, valuation, financial due diligence and/or transaction analysis
- Exposure to transaction processes and a good understanding of the key steps in due diligence and deal execution
- Strong ability to structure complex information, identify key issues and translate analysis into clear conclusions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with strong attention to detail
- A proactive and hands-on mindset, with the ability to take ownership of workstreams and drive analyses forward independently
- Ability to manage several parallel workstreams and collaborate effectively in a decentralized, cross-border organization
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
